It’s no secret…we LOVE automation and leverage. We can grow our network and build an audience on automation, we can generate leads on automation, we can even make sales and get sign-ups on full automation…
But when it comes to building a Network Marketing team – you need a strategy that is highly duplicatable. Something that you can teach to the average person and have them get results with rather quickly.
And for as much as we love automation, it honestly takes some time to learn and set up. And in the Network Marketing world, it’s a well-known fact that you’ve got 72 hours TOPS to get your new distributors some results. Otherwise, their chances of sticking around quickly approach 0%.
So what do we teach to our team?
Network Marketing on Facebook – Facebook Prospecting
When we launched our current Network Marketing business, we recruited 26 people (not just sales – actual distributors) our very first week, and a total of 44 in our first month.
How did we do it?
Through Facebook prospecting.
There are a lot of ways to do your Network Marketing on Facebook. Some popular Facebook Network Marketing strategies involve utilizing groups, pages, ads, etc. But what we’ve found to be one of the most duplicatable strategies is just a low-tech, zero set-up, easy-to-learn Facebook prospecting strategy.
Network Marketing on Facebook – Why It’s Awesome!
Recruiting for Network Marketing on Facebook is awesome because it’s one of the very few places online where it’s possible to get distributors for your Network Marketing business without having to make calls or speak to people over the phone.
Now, don’t get me wrong – actually having a conversation with someone on the phone is definitely helpful…
What I’m saying is that it’s not always necessary when you’re recruiting for Network Marketing using Facebook.
Because Facebook is one of the few social media sites where you can actually get to know somebody well enough (build trust and rapport) to the point where they’re comfortable joining you in an MLM.
Remember, 90% of communication is NON-verbal. A lot of the non-verbal ques that build trust, rapport, and friendship aren’t always easily communicated on other social media platforms. But with Network Marketing on Facebook, you can integrate images, video, audio, etc. into your communication style.
Facebook Prospecting – What it IS and What it ISN’T
Facebook prospecting is NOT sending friend requests to people and then instantly pitching them on your opportunity as soon as they accept.
Facebook prospecting is NOT sending friend requests to people, then waiting a week or so with no communication, and then pitching them on your opportunity.
Facebook prospecting IS connecting with the right people, building a genuine relationship over time, and then, if (and only if) they would be a good fit for your opportunity, inviting them to take a look at what you’ve got.
Remember, Network Marketing is a RELATIONSHIP business. People don’t join companies, people join people. And people will only buy from and join those that they know, like, and trust.
It doesn’t matter how good the company is, it doesn’t matter how great the products are, it doesn’t matter how “ground level” the opportunity is, it doesn’t matter how amazing your upline is…
NONE of that matters if the person you’re talking to doesn’t know, like, and trust YOU.
So with Network Marketing on Facebook, you need to focus most of your energy on building the relationship. Because without that, you will NEVER get the sale or the sign-up. And this is the part about Network Marketing on Facebook that a lot of trainers skip or gloss over, but it is seriously the MOST important part.
Building Your Warm Audience
So the key to Network Marketing on Facebook is building a targeted warm audience – fill your friends list with entrepreneurial-minded people, influential people, high-achievers, etc.
How many of us joined Network Marketing thinking that everyone we talked to was going to buy and join just for us to figure out that our warm market sucks?
Well…Facebook gives you an amazing opportunity to build a NEW warm market very quickly and fill it with the most awesome people on the internet. Seriously.
Finding The Right People
So where do you find all of these awesome people?
The easiest way to find them is by searching through Facebook Groups.
Think about what groups your perfect prospect might join and be active in. Is it a group about weight loss? Fitness? Travel? Technology?
If you want to target people who would be more interested in a business opportunity, think about groups about entrepreneurship, investing, home business, etc.
Once you’ve found the right group and join it, you don’t want to just send random friend requests to everybody.
Look for people who are making meaningful posts or making intelligent comments on posts. You want people who are active and engaged…you’re looking for action-takers.
You’ll want to be active in the group as well and make your own posts and comments. When people comment on your posts or reply to your comments with something interesting, that is a perfect opportunity to make a connection!
Making The Connection
Once you’ve found the right people to connect with, it’s time to reach out and invite them to your friends list.
Now remember, you want active and engaged people. Not someone who is just going to take up space on your friends list and never communicate (you’ve only got 5,000 spots and that can go quickly). So never send a friend request without communicating with them first.
What you want to do is first reply to the post or comment that they made in the group. You want to say something like “Agree 100%! [state why you agree]. Sending you a PM. Check your message requests 😊”
Why do this? Because when you message someone in Facebook that isn’t on your friends list, your PM goes straight to their “message requests” folder. When that happens, the user doesn’t get notified and the message is very easy to miss.
BUT, when you reply to their post or comment, they DO get notified. So this is a great way to prompt them to check their message requests folder.
Next, you’ll want to actually send them a PM in Facebook Messenger. Try saying something like, “Hey [name]! I saw your comment in the [group name] group and thought you hit the nail right on the head! Would love to connect further. Do you mind if I send a friend request?”
If they reply yes, then send the request. Congrats! You’ve now got a highly-targeted, active, engaged, very “warm” potential prospect!
If they don’t respond, or respond negatively, then don’t send the request. There are 2.2 BILLION active users on Facebook. Seriously, if ONE of them doesn’t want to be your Facebook friend, you can find another 😊
