In this post we’ll cover the network marketing strategies to employ once you are set up and ready to start building online. The main goal with whatever platform you choose (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogging, paid ads, etc) is to grow your audience and your leads/email list.
Then, as with all marketing, the fortune is in the follow-up. You’ll need to follow up with your leads and use traditional marketing strategies to assess them & share with them your opportunity. Now lets go through these network marketing strategies on how to get leads so you can start building!
Online Network Marketing Strategies #1 Grow Your Audience – Don’t BUY!
One trap that can be really tempting to fall into is to buy followers. It’s a bit painful to start a new account on Instagram or Twitter and have no followers. There are places you can go to buy thousands of followers for a few bucks. Don’t fall for it. If you do, it may show that you have followers, but they are fake, and they will skew your audience with irrelevant and inactive accounts. It’s important that your audience it real so your follower analytics are accurate, which you will need to use in the future.
You also want an audience that actually is in tune with your niche: network marketing, health & wellness, fitness, finance, travel, etc. You want to stay focused with the specific type of people you are looking for, focus on the people you want as leads.
While it is intimidating to start from scratch, you can quickly get that number up. Search for people within your niche, and follow them. Most people that get followed will automatically follow you back, and if they don’t, just unfollow. I usually give them a day or two to reciprocate before unfollowing. Plus, using hashtags is a great way for people to find you!
Online Network Marketing Strategies #2 Provide Value 80/20 Rule
This is one of the biggest things I see done wrong on social media. Everyone has seen “that guy” online who does nothing but pitch his opportunity and provides no value to his audience. Don’t be “that guy“. If you hammer your audience with pitches, no one will listen, you’ll look desperate and will continue to struggle to bring anyone into your business.
You have to decide what type of content you want to provide to your audience based on who you are looking to recruit. You can provide helpful tips, motivation, and information on network marketing, fitness, health & wellness, finance, fashion, travel, or whatever your niche is.

By providing value instead of pitching your opportunity or products all the time, you are branding yourself. There are lots of other distributors for your company out there, but their is only one you! So stick to you! Brand yourself as the expert and more people will be interested in learning about your opportunity.
For the other 20%, you want to use the “Funnel” we talked about in Part 1 to turn your audience into leads. You still don’t want to flat out pitch your business opportunity, that is something you can discuss with them after they become a lead.
To get people into your “funnel”, you want to offer something of value that people want and are looking for – something that people will be willing to give you their contact information for. When they click the link to access whatever it is you’re offering, you should send them to your “opt-in page” where they provide you with their contact information in exchange for your offer.
Viola! You now have a lead to follow up with!
Online Network Marketing Strategies #3 Build Relationships – Know, Like, Trust!
One of the big reasons that people don’t succeed in recruiting online is because they don’t spend any time building rapport and trust with the people they try to recruit. Your MLM opportunity is a long-term commitment. Trying to pitch someone on it without them knowing, liking, and trusting you is like asking someone to marry you at the start of your first date.
Through the content you provide (content that has teaches something and has value), people get to know and (hopefully) like you, and you build trust with your audience.
You need to interact with your audience and leads though emails, chats, Tweets, etc. Learn what they are looking for and provide them with advice and solutions. Sometimes, the solution may be joining you in your MLM opportunity to get your personal time and coaching, but most of the time it may just be giving some free advice or referring them to a training program or other helpful resource.
