Most of us joined our Network Marketing companies because we saw the potential this business had for creating real freedom in our lives – both financial freedom and time freedom.

Whether it was a connect call or a company event, at some point, you were likely introduced to someone in your company who was having great success with their business and you thought to yourself ‘that’s going to be me’.

So you sign up, you go through all your company’s training, and you do everything your sponsor and upline tell you to do…

And Then Reality Hits…

Almost all of your friends and family say no, and the ones who do say yes don’t do anything.

So you start to ask your sponsor and upline for help. And to your disappointment, the advice they give is relatively vague and/or unhelpful.

‘Just talk to more people’

‘Revisit your warm market’

‘Post more before/after pictures, product pictures, and testimonials on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram’

Does any of that seem familiar?

The Problem

There are many reasons why you might get this type of advice from your sponsor and/or upline. But from our experience, it’s usually because your upline hasn’t found much success yet, or (if they are successful) they managed to build their entire organization through their warm market.

If they haven’t found much success yet, then they haven’t figured out how to overcome the same obstacles you’re facing.

If they are successful and they built their entire organization through their warm market, then they’ve never even had to address the problems you’re facing.

Either way, you need to find a way to overcome the obstacles you’re facing in your Network Marketing business. And as great as your sponsor and upline may be, you’ll have to go outside of them to get the training and guidance you need.

Get The Right Mindset

The very first thing you need to do is get into the right mindset. And here is where I need to make a disclaimer that I’m going to be honest in a way that may anger some people.

And I know that most of you already know what I’m about to tell you here, but for the sake of the 1 or 2 who don’t, I’m going to say it again…

You first need to realize that your success in your business is solely your responsibility. Your sponsor and upline are there to help, but if you don’t succeed, it’s not their fault. And conversely, if you do succeed, the success is ALL yours.

So while your upline may or may not be the most helpful to you, you need to resist the temptation to play the blame game, and instead, take on the attitude that you will either find a way or you will MAKE a way!

Get Educated

The next thing you need to do is invest in yourself and get educated. Reading this blog is a great start! But in addition to that, you will want to invest in some training courses.

Cold Market Prospecting and Online Lead Generation are two skills that you will want to learn.

Get Connected

While training courses will help you get your business off the ground, the absolute best way to find massive success in your business is to learn from someone who has faced those same problems you’re facing and found a way to overcome them.

There is absolutely no substitute for connecting with someone who is having the success that you want in your business and have them looking over your shoulder and guiding you step-by-step along the way.

Join A Community

So where do you find these people to connect with? We found them through MLSP. We’ve joined many Network Marketing communities on Facebook, Google+, and other online forums, and those communities are full of people who want to know how to make their business successful, but no one is really willing to give you the answers you need.

MLSP has been a completely different experience for us. When we ask a question there, it gets answered. Not only do we learn what to do, but we learn exactly how to do it.

    Love love your article. I have often wondered if I did the right thing. Being a ” Lone Wolf” that is. I know in these sponsor driven home businesses they tend to a “group” mentality. Which can be helpful but leave so many independent consultants giving up in the first year. Personally I tell those on my team don’t be afraid to explore. ” Think outside the box” ? Of course I give them a free e-book for joining and take them step by step for 10 days to setting up their online brand via the e-book. I figure after that it only takes creativity, follow those they connect well with and endless reading. Then retrying a post/posts until it gets the desired effect you need. That of course being sales. Building your team if you want to. Bottom line it all depends on them. I can only help. They are the key to their success. This is even my thoughts on my up-line. Infact personally I taught some of them. Now they say we better get busy. Sherry is passing us up. I think to myself ” Hey I am nobody. I started out with no money, customer service skills from working outside the home and lots of personality”. No need to compete with me. I want to see everyone succeed. Anyway have a great day!     Thx for sharing, this was a helpful read. I agree with all that you said especially this point: “You first need to realize that your success in your business is solely your responsibility.” How true this has proved to be for me in my network marketing career
